Willowdale Lodge is nestled in the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains near Kokstad, on the border between the Eastern Cape and Kaw-Zulu Natal. Historically known as “No Mans Land” until its settlement by the Griqua’s in 1871, the area comprises of rugged mountainous grassland, meandering streams and rivers and a typical highlands climate of warm summers and cold winters.

Lodge Accommodation

The Lodge accommodation comprises of 10 rooms and strives to provide the visitor with the comfort of modern living with historic and authentic ambience. In keeping with the character of the old farmstead, all rooms are decorated in an old world style with authentic antiques and interesting artefacts throughout. The amenities are modern with en-0suite bathrooms, spacious showers and ball and claw baths. Satellite TV, under-floor heating and 100% percale linen in all rooms ensure a level of comfort befitting the 21st Century.

In keeping with the authentic nature of the farmstead and farm location near Kokstad, food at Willowdale Lodge takes its cue from the land and region. With an emphasis on quality produce and unmasked flavours, the styles presented reflect the well travelled tastes our chef, Dolla Bruce. Evening meals are generally a relaxed three-course affair reflecting season produce combined with peculiar whims of the kitchen.
